Uche Enemchukwu, J.D., LL.M.
Nelu Diversified Solutions
CEO

In today's evolving pensions landscape, the importance of diversity in trusteeship has never been more critical. Diverse trustee boards bring fresh perspectives, foster better decision-making, and drive innovation, all of which are vital to improving outcomes for pension scheme members.

Our keynote speaker, Uche Enemchukwu, will look at challenges pension schemes face in recruiting and retaining the next generation of trustees. Uche will discuss why diversity matters not just in terms of demographics but also in skill sets, experiences, and thinking. Through real-world lessons, attendees will learn how pension schemes can enhance their recruitment and retention processes for the next generation of trustees.

Supporting the next generation of Trustees
Donna Walsh
Donna Walsh
Standard Life
Head of Master Trust

Everyone deserves a little more certainty. And when it comes to planning for retirement, we know that many pension savers may be unsure of where to start. That’s why it’s vital for pension providers like Standard Life, employers, and the wider pensions industry to ensure we’re making the best possible decisions for savers – and put their needs at the heart of everything we do.

We can only do this by harnessing the diverse views of people from all walks of life. That way, we can truly understand what’s important to people, what is and isn’t working, and how the decisions we make can impact their financial future. This includes diversity across Trustee Boards and governance committees. In this session, Donna Walsh, founder and sponsor of Standard Life’s Trustee Accelerator Programme (TAP) will share more on the importance of diverse boards and how TAP is supporting the next generation of Trustees.

WEALTH at work
New Business Development Executive

As savers approach retirement, understanding their pensions including how they are invested and their options to create an income are key to making good decisions for their financial future. We know the decisions faced are complex and there can be very little support available to help members make the most of their options.
WEALTH at work will share its latest research and insights on the challenges members are facing, when they’re not as engaged with their pension savings as they should be and why offering support well before they retire will improve their financial future.

The world of trusteeship is complex and fast-changing.  Lay trustees - for whom pensions is not their day job - are required to operate alongside various experts, which can be intimidating.  The PMI has long been at the forefront of trustee education, and now to add to this support will be launching an online forum focused on Trusteeship – the PMI Trusteeship Special Interest Group.

The purpose of the forum is to stimulate and facilitate trustee debate, particularly among lay trustees, providing a ‘safe space’ group environment where individuals can share experiences, ask questions, provide an impetus to motivate fresh thinking and ideas, and simultaneously build confidence in their trustee roles.

Breakout session: The Best of All Worlds - Security and Growth in a Retirement Plan
Georgina Taylor
Georgina Taylor
Invesco
Head of Multi-Asset Strategies (MAS) UK

Since the introduction of the Pensions Freedoms nearly a decade ago, the annuity market has plummeted while the drawdown market has soared.

Arguably both trends have been overdone. Rate rises have resulted in much more attractive annuity rates, enabling savers to lock in a higher level of secure income and mitigating the risk of running out of money in retirement.

In this session, we will discuss the evolution of retirement products which combine both secure income and continuing growth potential, and how these can be customised to the circumstances of individual savers.
