Agenda

This session will provide a comprehensive overview of the current policy landscape affecting DC pensions and master trusts. Sam Grutchfield, Director of MT and DC Supervision from TPR will outline the latest regulatory expectations, focusing on key areas such as value for money, governance standards, investment strategies, and member outcomes. Attendees will gain insights into the Regulator's current priorities and how they influence scheme operations and strategic decision-making.

This panel discussion will feature representatives from three corners of the industry and will consider the impact of evolving market dynamics, consolidation trends and proposed policy change. The session aims to provide diverse perspectives on how the landscape will adapt, how we can prepare and the benefits it may bring to retirement outcomes.

Join us for an insightful session on the next generation of default design for DC schemes. Our expert speaker will delve into innovative approaches that take into consideration the diverse demographics of scheme members and facilitate a broader investment toolkit. By exploring bespoke default examples, this session will provide a comprehensive understanding of how to craft strategies that meet the unique needs of different member groups and regulatory requirements such as the value for money framework. Attendees will gain valuable insights into the latest trends and best practices in default design, ensuring their scheme is well-positioned for future success.

This session explores how CDC schemes can be integrated into a Master Trust framework. Key discussion points include the basics and benefits of CDC, how the new regime reflects the existing Master Trust regime and how it differs, and compliance and legal considerations when adopting CDC models. This session aims to anticipate where providers may encounter difficulties and risks, and what they might to do to mitigate them.

Over the next five years, the UK's DC and Mastertrust market will undergo significant consolidation, with a focus on fewer, larger pension schemes. Driven largely by regulatory changes, this shift will require greater market consolidation. The growing need for hyper-automation, supported by STP, APIs, and AI, will be critical. Technology will serve as a crucial enabler, allowing providers and trustees to focus on real differentiation.
Increasing regulatory focus with the introduction of Value For Money framework, the launch of Pension Dashboard and the drive for greater member support at retirement puts additional pressure demands on pension administration teams. Pension providers and their administrators must address three key challenges: governance, ensuring high-quality scheme data, and scaling operational efficiency.
Through real-life examples, we will show how end-to-end automation enhances administration and delivers better outcomes for members and providers.

Join us for a session focusing on the benefits of implementing a private credit strategy in both the pre-retirement and decumulation phases for DC members. Following the impact of recent market volatility and its impact on retirees' pension pots, capital preservation and inflation mitigation are key. This session aims to provide valuable insights into how private credit can play a pivotal role in addressing these challenges and ensuring better value for members throughout retirement.

As the pensions landscape continues to evolve, many people are now having to make complicated pension choices. For someone who is vulnerable, those choices can be especially challenging to navigate. With an increasing number of people relying on DC benefits, and an ageing population, there could be a greater need for trustees to support vulnerable members in the future. This session will look at what makes a person vulnerable, what the law currently requires, and how this might generate new trustee duties.

UK portfolios, invested globally, typically see between 20% and 40% of their annual risk “budget” being consumed by foreign exchange volatility. However, it is often said that currency-risk “does not matter”. Using case studies, and current market views, we explore the significant impact of FX risk on overseas investments over the last 20 years, and identify methods to transform this risk into potential profit opportunities that can be used to improve cashflow, and pay stakeholders.
If you are interested in joining this roundtable please fill out the form here.

Low engagement in pension planning is leading to sub optimal outcomes for members. The post-retirement journey is complex, and a one-size-fits-all approach does not suffice. This session will discuss a framework for investing in post-retirement, highlighting three main pathways that members can take to access their retirement savings. We will also explore how schemes can incorporate individualisation by blending different investment approaches, ensuring that personal needs, income, and risk are managed holistically and appropriately for each scheme member.

This session will feature a panel discussion on how the insights shared throughout the day translate into tangible benefits for pension scheme members and everyday individuals.

Join leading industry experts as they explore the evolving role of annuities in today’s global markets. This session will delve into the benefits and limitations of traditional annuities, the rise of innovative alternatives, and how they fit into a well-rounded post-retirement portfolio. Our panel will also discuss strategies to empower consumers with the knowledge and tools needed to navigate the complex landscape of retirement income decisions. Expect a highly interactive discussion with expert insights and plenty of opportunities for audience Q&A.

Join us for a compelling closing keynote where we will explore insights into the evolving landscape of pensions and long-term financial wellbeing. This thought-provoking session will explore the intersection of policy, education, and financial empowerment, offering strategies to enhance member engagement, improve outcomes, and inspire long-term financial security. Prepare to leave with actionable ideas that can shape the future of pensions and retirement planning.
