PMI appoints Pi Partnership as Insight Partner for Governance

27th of January 2025 — The Pensions Management Institute (PMI) is delighted to announce it has appointed Pi Partnership as its new Insight Partner for Governance. Pi Partnership is an employee-owned organisation specialising in providing governance solutions to UK occupational pension schemes.

Pi Partnership is an industry leader in advising on a range of governance issues. Its team of pension specialists work across the UK occupational pension landscape to help clients with a number of governance solutions, including professional trusteeship, independent scheme secretariat and other governance projects.

Pi Partnership’s experienced team work closely with Trustee Boards and sponsoring companies to design, implement and deliver a wide range of governance services. This includes helping pension schemes to implement the General Code proportionately and pragmatically, providing independent reviews of both in-house and outsourced administration pension teams, and delivering bespoke adviser reviews and selection – free of any conflicts of interest or commercial sensitivities.

The Insight Partnership will share Pi Partnership’s experience and expertise with PMI members, by providing insight on matters including the implementation of regulator guidance, effective delivery of buy-in projects, and the design of practical and innovative governance arrangements for Trustee Boards.

The PMI’s partnerships support innovation on current, pertinent issues and add value through the delivery of specialist knowledge. The partnership will be available to pension scheme members across the UK.

Gareth Tancred, CEO of the Pensions Management Institute, said: “Governance is of utmost importance within the pension industry, but concerns are persistent over the levels of complexity and precision required. This partnership represents a valuable opportunity for the PMI, and Pi, to help educate, support and improve the industry’s approach towards compliance and important governance duties.”

Simone Lavelle, CEO of Pi Partnership, comments: “Pi is delighted to partner with the Pension Management Institute as the Insight Partner for Governance. We believe that good governance underpins the effective operation of any trustee board, to the ultimate benefit of the sponsor and members alike. With the publication of the General Code and the ongoing developments within the pension industry, there has never been a time when governance is more important.”
