Pensions Management Institute launches membership by experience (EPMI)

The Pensions Management Institute (PMI) has today announced the launch of a new type of membership for experienced professionals in the pensions industry.

Membership by experience (EPMI) will be open to senior pensions practitioners as an alternative route to membership which does not require applicants to complete Institute’s qualifications to gain access to the benefits associated with the PMI membership. These individuals will need to successfully demonstrate their professional competence and have a minimum of 10 years of pensions related specialist knowledge to gain EMPI membership. All qualified members will be entitled to use the designatory initials EPMI.

Earning EPMI membership will allow pension professionals to gain free access to PMI resources, including webinar video content, research reports and thought leadership content as well as benefit from reduced member rates to attend events. EPMI members will also be able to attend Fellowship Network events and participate in other networking initiatives such as the PMI Mentoring & Development Programme, Q&A coffee breaks with PMI members and much more.

Experienced professionals can apply for EMPI membership from today. Applicants must demonstrate experience in a relevant pensions specialism and provide evidence of their contributions to the industry. The first-year annual subscription of EPMI membership will cost £650. Annual renewal fees will be £550. More information on the application process and the benefits of EMPI membership is available here.

Gareth Tancred, CEO of the Pensions Management Institute, comments:

“We’re launching EPMI as part of our on-going ambition to improve standards and knowledge in the pensions industry. This new option allows experienced professionals who’ve not previously been PMI members to join, share knowledge, and benefit from our members-only resources. The EPMI will also enable more industry leaders to participate in our events as full members in the PMI and share their expertise and experience with the wider industry.”

Liz Jewkes, Head of Pension Policy & Strategy, Serco, and an EPMI member, comments:

“I was delighted to be invited to apply for membership of the PMI and subsequently to have been awarded the first EPMI. I see this as recognition of the knowledge and experience I have attained managing both public and private sector pension arrangements over many years. I am looking forward to working with the PMI and would like to thank Serco for supporting my application.”

Andy Seed, Head of DC Solutions, Aviva Investors and an EPMI member, comments:

“I am genuinely honoured to have been included in the initial list of new EMPI members. As a long-standing supporter and advocate of the PMI, it’s absolutely fantastic that experienced industry professionals are being recognised and valued for their contribution to the industry.”
