A decade of falling gilt yields has reversed in just a few months of 2022, slashing DB liabilities. As a result, it’s been estimated that almost 50% of schemes are fully or close to full funding on a buyout basis. Coupled with relatively attractive insurer pricing, especially for deferred members, we’ve seen demand for buyout increase as more and more schemes discover it’s already affordable. Hear from the experts
Edward Levy is a director of The Law Debenture Pension Trust Corporation plc and an independent professional pension trustee. He represents LawDeb on a range of trustee boards from £20m to £3bn, including three as chair and three as lead director where LawDeb is the corporate sole trustee. Edward is an Accredited Member of the Association of Professional Pension Trustees.
Prior to LawDeb, Edward held senior strategy, planning and governance roles at Aviva, Abbey National and Lloyds TSB Group. This followed pensions experience from consulting actuary roles at William M Mercer Fraser Ltd and as a partner at Punter Southall Kerr & Co. Edward has an MA in Mathematics from Cambridge University and an MBA from London Business School.
