Marcos Abreu is an experienced actuary with 20+ years’ industry experience. He has experience both as a Scheme Actuary, having held a certificate since 2010, and in advising scheme sponsors, where he leads on Funding & Investment. Marcos has particular experience with small and medium sized defined benefit schemes, across a range of sectors. Marcos joined First Actuarial in 2019 and became Associate Partner in 2024.

Marcos’ approach is to understand the unique needs of a client and build strong relationships with the trustees, the sponsor, colleagues, and other professional advisers to provide the best advice and develop effective solutions.
During his career Marcos has helped clients through various projects, including mergers and buyouts. Marcos helps with internal training and runs regular seminars and webinars for our clients, most recently on the new DB funding code where he worked closely with well-known industry lawyers. Marcos has had several articles printed in professional publications.
